A qualified and experienced Senior Mechanic / Fitter who is looking to make a return to Africa or Middle East having spent recent years living in Spain and working offshore as a Captain and Engineer of private sailing yachts.
Possesses experience of working in the heavy industrial, quarrying and mining sectors and capable of adapting to most environments either as a project lead or in a standalone role.
Takes a responsible attitude toward Health & Safety, identifying any potential risks or hazards and ensuring equipment is in full working order and fit for purpose and also ensures the safety and welfare of people, being fully accountable at all times. Expert at carrying out analytical inspections and testing, ensuring a high level of compliance in line with legislation.
Experienced in project management, controlling budgets, costs, materials and labour and has successfully completed a number of project works for wealthy yacht owners and shipyards in the past.

Technical Expertise:
- Served a full technical Apprenticeship and developed good experience in diesel engineers, transmissions, hydraulics and pneumatics in the mining and industrial field
- Following apprenticeship, immediately elevated to a field service role travelling around Southern Africa and fixing and maintaining mechanical equipment
- Experienced at Chief Engineer level for ship refit company, controlling M&E staff in carrying out maintenance and major overhaul of all onboard systems inc., engine room
- Responsible for engineering inspections ensuring that equipment is in full working order and fit for purpose

- Procuring and managing the timely delivery of materials, negotiating best prices with suppliers and dealing with payments and project work sign offs
- Ensuring a high level of Health & Safety and compliance during project works, regularly monitoring trades and subcontractor works and addressing any hazardous issues
Team Leadership:
- Confidently leads both mechanical, electronic and electrical engineering teams on maintenance and repair works whilst at sea and onshore
- Accountable for the welfare, health & safety of crew and passengers and also ensuring systems, equipment and facilities are compliant and in full working order at all times
- Developed excellent relationships with engineers, crew, staff, yacht owner and guests
Budgets & Schedules:
- Responsible for managing budgets and expenditure, negotiating prices with suppliers and contractors on the procurement and supply of materials and labour
- Planning and scheduling projects and works, plus the forecasting of material and supply requirements whilst offshore
- Developed budgets, forecasts, targets, strategy and business systems and processes and ensured compliance with company's policies and statutory regulations obligations
