- Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning, Start-Up and Short Term Operations of HOFCC (High Olefins Fluid Catalyst Cracking / 92,000 bpd) unit.
- Project locations include the MidEast and Asia. My participation included Petro Rabigh Project at Rabigh, Saudi Arabia. It is a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Japanese chemical company, Sumitomo Chemical. The process involves Stone & Webster’s Deep Catalyst Cracking theory. This entails the cracking of hydro- treated VGO in the RX / Converter section focusing primarily in maximum propylene yields versus maximum gasoline yields.
- Duties are the instruction, supervision and training of client’s staff in pre- commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and short term operations of FCCU’s. All operational and safety directives, i.e. SOPs, LOTO, and etc. are followed.

- My primary duties are tasked under O & M (Operations and Maintenance) and Base Logistics to the U.S. and Coalition Forces in the Iraqi Theater of Operations concerning DRMO (Defense Reutilization and Marketing Operations) and Fuel Distribution Point Operations.
- Maintaining operational integrity of Base facilities, equipment, and units as well as security deviations in the “Area of Operations” sites.
- Trouble shooting of Pre and Post QA / QC, Defense Contracting Management Agency, and Quartermaster Corp audits.
- Tasked to ensure the adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, Total Safety Task Instructions, Activity Hazard Analysis, and other relevant operational and safety documents mandated by Task Orders and Letters of Technical Direction via the U.S. Army / DOD mandates.
- The training of “Third Country Nationals" to operate, maintain, and sustain said facilities, equipment, and units were involved.
- Daily interaction with U. S. Military, Iraqi Army, HCN’s (Iraqis) as well as other multi-nationalities is an ongoing activity generated by Daily Situation Reports.
- Security activities (S-2 / Brigade Intel), (Tactical Human Intelligence Teams), force protection concerns, and duties are involved to maintain logistical integrity per supply balances.
- Situation Reports are sent and received daily and analyzed for optimal performance as well as abnormal variables which are acted upon.
- Experienced in Project Proposals, Development of Data Gathering Programs and the initiating and submission of said programs.

- Operation of Specialized Heavy Equipment involved in the remote-handling of high-level nuclear material. Operation of Robotic and Radio Frequency controlled equipment was involved as well as satellite control rooms and associated computer programs.

Originally began as a VRU (Gas Plant), operator on a Model 4 Fluid Catalyst Cracking Unit. Equipment included in the Absorption process were Absorber, High Stage Drum, Stripper, Debutanizer towers as well as associated pumps, heat & cooling trains, and condensate systems. Progressed through Oil-Side operations which included Fractionation ( Main Column), Heat & Cooling train (pump-a-rounds), Reactor , Regenerator, Flue Gas and Tertiary processes; to the classification of A/B Op. (Control Room Op. / Outside Lead) on VSS-AF Cat Unit. Duties included the monitoring and adjustment of variables involved in the normal and abnormal operations of a Vortex Separation System- Advanced Fluidization / Fluid Catalyst Cracking Unit (VSS-AF/FCCU): the refining of reduced crude oil into gasoline and other by-products.
- Fire Team experience and training.
- I acted as Safety Foreman and Contractor Liaison during turnarounds.
