TEXACO E & P – Bakersfield, California 02/2001-11/2001
Thermal Supervisor — Repatriation Transition Assignment to Kern River

  • Directed steam generation, distribution, injection, and quality testing activities.
  • Developed steam generator and CVRU site maintenance program that resulted in 90% reductions in emissions violations.

TEXACO EURASIA – North Buzachi, Kazakhstan 07/1998 – 01/2001
Chief Production Supervisor

Assigned point man responsibilities for pilot exploration and production development project in Kazakstan. Roles included: construction/maintenance supervisor, director of field production and base camp operations, road commissioner, safety administrator, and human resources specialist. As the initial Company representative on base, built rapport and positive relations leading to consensus working relationships with nationals. Utilized national workforce to construct on time and under budget the following projects:

  • Constructed 40+ kilometers of lease roads across the Caspian SOR, 155-person field base camp, well test facilities, central processing plant, and product pipeline infrastructure.
  • Rebuilt old steam generator and performed first successful well steam stimulation in Buzachi field.
  • Successfully handled hiring, training, safety, and career development of Kazak and Russian operations/maintenance personnel. Promoted safety, team, and goal oriented operation.
  • Secured and administered a cost-effective oil/water trucking and processing agreement with neighboring Kazak oil company. Established a strong and trusting business alliance.
  • Ensured field operations complied with Kazak and Texaco safety and environmental regulations.

TEXACO E & P – Bakersfield, California 11/1997 – 07/1998
Production Supervisor AMT #4

Responsible for Kern River field production operations that included the supervision of lease operations teams, well test facilities, and contractor workover rigs and maintenance crews.

  • Reduced annual well pulling costs by $480K through optimization of well selection criteria and rig-scheduling practices.
  • Developed and implemented a lease operator cross-training and realignment program, which resulted in annual savings of $300K in employee overtime costs.
  • Designed training matrix and guidelines for mentoring newly appointed Supervisors.
  • Created and implemented local tracking system to capture and monitor field expenditures.

SANTA FE ENERGY RESOURCES, Inc. – Bakersfield, California 1984 — 1997
Area Production Superintendent

Managed a 1500 well thermal operation in the Midway-Sunset field that included all drilling, well workovers, steam generation, oil dehydration, surface maintenance, well gauging, and capital projects within the South Midway Area. Directed an operations team consisting of 61 company personnel and up to 125contract personnel. Administered $21 million expense budget and $30 million capital budget

  • Designed and implemented slop oil treating process system that decreased plant expenses by $750K per year. Resulted in improvement of overall plant efficiency and inventory control.
  • Conceived a turnkey service contract for down hole pumps that reduced annual costs by $240K.
  • Streamlined existing well pulling service contract that resulted in annual savings of $360K
  • Developed and implemented operational, maintenance, and tactics plan to ensure the successful assimilation of McFarland Energy properties into South Midway as part of $110 million acquisition.
  • Increased oil production and reduced maintenance costs by the creation and implementation of lease operator well surveillance teams.
  • Wrote and implemented procedures and guidelines for large oil/water processing plant to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Wrote field “Regulatory Compliance Manual” for California Operations. Implemented manual during initial training of all field level supervisors.
  • Utilized computer technology in the preparation and presentation of budget proposals, capital and operating expense forecasts, production and progress reports to senior management.
  • Ensured compliance with all company policies, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Prepared annual performance appraisals for supervisory and clerical staff.
  • Responsible for handling union grievances and building of our relationship with the OCAW union.

TOSCO CORPORATION – Bakersfield, California 1975 — 1984
