Professional Skills And Accomplishments


Planning
• Provided bases and planning assumptions for Saudi Aramco ’s business
plans.
• Reviewed and prepared comments for CEO on business plans for Saudi
Aramco ’s international and domestic joint ventures.
• Developed and implemented first formal planning system for
international petroleum company.
• Conducted numerous short and long range planning studies including
evaluations of expansions, modifications, and new process facilities,
project economics and venture analysis, raw material evaluation, and
plant scheduling and optimization for clients.

Independent Engineer
• Served as independent engineer in project evaluation, monitoring and
oversight for major international banks

Start-up/Turnaround
• Formed Swiss trading company for international petroleum company and
managed the company for one year.
• Directed turnaround of refining, marketing and trading activities in
U. S. for international oil company that resulted in operations showing
a profit in excess of $3 million within 6 months as compared to losses
of over $10 million over the previous 12 months.

Negotiation
• Assisted the Ministry of Petroleum & Minerals, Saudi Arabia, in negotiations for Neutral Zone concessions
• Negotiated processing agreement with major European refiner which
resulted in net profits of $500,000 over three-month term of contract.
• Negotiated barter transaction for 2.5 million barrels resulting in profits of $4.5 million.

Acquisitions/Divestitures
• Evaluated diversification opportunities including: refinery and
terminal acquisitions in Europe, Africa and the Caribbean; laser
manufacture in Switzerland; the manufacture and maintenance of air
conditioning systems in Saudi Arabia; and solar energy research and
development in France.
• Negotiated sale of refinery for 20 percent above appraised value.
• Assisted client in the sale of refinery resulting in a sale at 80% over
the best offer before my assistance.

Training
• Developed and conducted 6 month training program on refining technology
and economics for 15 representatives of OPEC.
• Trained oil traders for supply department of national oil company

Data Processing and Modeling
• Maintained and updated short and long-term pricing models for Saudi
Aramco
• Developed World Oil Model for OPEC Secretariat.
• Developed refining process correlations for catalytic cracking,
catalytic reforming, delayed coking, visbreaking, hydrotreating, and
hydrodesulfurization.
• Developed linear programming (LP) models for petroleum and
petrochemical plants.
• Developed computer program for estimating crude oil yields and product
properties.

Market Analysis
• Prepared monthly crude oil pricing recommendations for Saudi Aramco.
• Prepared weekly market indicators for Minister of Petroleum and
Minerals, Saudi Arabia.
• Prepared weekly market summary for CEO, Saudi Aramco.
• Advised Saudi Aramco pricing committee on monthly contract prices for

Lpg.

• Provided market supply/demand and pricing forecasts for petroleum
trading offices.
• Forecasted chemical plant demand worldwide.
