Number and Titles of Persons and/or Areas Supervised: Chief Metallurgist, Chief Chemist, Plant Operations Superintendent and Plant Maintenance Superintendent

Position Summary

The Plant Manager is accountable to the Operations Manager for the safe, efficient, legally compliant and profitable operation of the Ag/Zn/Pb processing facilities. The incumbent will provide leadership, development and direction to his subordinate staff to ensure that the business objectives of the Company are consistently achieved.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, develop and retain an expatriate and in Country operating team consistent with the authorized manning budget which is capable of the timely delivery of the requisite concentrate quantities and qualities.
• Select, train and develop suitable in Country candidates to potentially localize the position within 3-5 years.
• Lead and mentor the key departmental subordinates to ensure that the operational deliverables consistently reach or exceed target in their areas of accountability.
• Contribute to the Company’s Management Team on a strategic level.
• Contribute to the development of the Company’s HSE policies and procedures.
• Ensure that all operations are carried out in compliance with Company and national health, safety and environmental guidelines, policies, procedures and legislation.
• Actively promote the recognition in his subordinate staff that safety of personnel is of the highest priority and cannot be compromised.
• Implement operating procedures to ensure sufficient flexibility such that concentrate grades and recoveries can meet the changing demands of the business and markets.
• Optimize the operation of the Company’s processing facilities through leadership and direction of:
o a professional metallurgical team o a high quality laboratory group o an optimized process control team
• Closely liaise with the Maintenance Manager and his team to maximize the availability, utilization and productivity of the processing facility.
• Develop operating and capital budget plans consistent with the goals of the business and the direction of the General Manager and Board of Directors.
• Review, report, action and reforecast departmental financial performance on a regular basis which shall be no less than monthly.
• Propose and implement authorized operating and capital expenditure strategies that will enhance the financial position of the business.

Critical Skill Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or a related field.
• Minimum of 15 years international experience in ore processing with specialty in base metal flotation plants, with at least 5 years at a senior management level.
• Proven leadership skills and abilities to develop local staff.
• Hands on management style encouraging participative and entrepreneurial input but with clearly focused business goals.

Preferred Skills:

• Fluency in Spanish is desirable.
• Prior experience in Latin America.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a highly participative team based environment.
