Position Synopsis
BHP Billiton Petroleum is looking for a Senior Contracts Specialist to join its professional Supply team in a Perth based position. Reporting to the Supply Manager you will develop and implement contracting strategies focused on driving HSEC best practice and optimisation of Drilling and Completions contracting services to meet business requirements. Tendering and contract execution utilising standardisation of documentation and automation to achieve increased service levels across the Drilling functions.
Your key accountabilities in this role will include:
* Driving commercial contracting excellence and managing risk effectively for all drilling equipment & services contracts
* Assuring compliance to BHPB policies, procedures and statutory requirements
* Developing, executing and managing drilling contracting strategies
* Internal/ external benchmarking activities to support performance improvement
* Working with drilling teams to improve contractor performance monitoring and management
* Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with key contractors to ensure best service, commercial terms and surety of services
* Mentoring, training and developing contracts personnel

Skills and Experience
To be competitive for this role you will be experienced in contract management within the resources industry, ideally with exposure to Oil and Gas Operations. Degree qualified in a related discipline, you’ll have a detailed understanding of contract terms and conditions and associated risks, contract negotiation, contractor performance management strategies and contract administration.
Advanced risk management skills, superior problem solving skills and a good working knowledge of the SAP ERP system is essential.
