BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s mining operations in the spectacular Pilbara region of WA are one of the largest in the world, shipping more than 120Mtpa of iron ore. Our railways, consisting of more than 800km of track, connect our mines in the Pilbara with our shipping facilities in Port Hedland. The heavy haulage rail system, the heaviest in the world, with more than 100 locomotives and around 4,500 carriages, uses state of the art technology across all facets of the operation.

We are looking for an energetic and driven leader to shape the performance of the administration team across Rail Workshops. Managing a high volume workload, you will be expected to build strong relationships with the current clerical team and take responsibility for following through on all administrative issues. Your role will be to emphasise on strategy and delivery, as well as providing a centralised administration service to the Rail Workshops Department.

Position Synopsis

You will focus your efforts on providing support to the operational Superintendents to lift the administration workload within the Rail Workshops. Other key accountabilities are as follows:

* Working as PA to the Rail Workshops Manager;
* Supervision and development of Administrators and Clerical Trainees throughout the Rail Workshops;
* Maintaining diligence and accuracy with the Statutory Legislation record keeping;
* Manage the performance of the administration team;
* Arranging staff and other travel and accommodation;
* Reconciling AMEX cards for the Manager;
* Maintaining training records within the department; and
* Other administrative duties as required, eg. sorting of mail, filing, maintaining stationery.

Skills and Experience

Essential to this role is a senior level of administration management experience with a demonstrated commitment to providing strong customer service. At least 3 years supervisory experience is essential for this position. You will have demonstrated experience of driving change and projects along with the ability to take strategic directions and to translate these into operational projects and delivery.

Your excellent oral and written communication skills, initiative and advanced multi-tasking capabilities are critical success factors. Working in a relatively autonomous role within the team, you will be required to be a self starter who is capable of controlling your own work flows and adding value to team processes where possible. Your flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and your meticulous attention to detail will be highly regarded.
