Position Synopsis
BHP Billiton Iron Ore has an overriding commitment to health, safety and environmental, supported by well-developed behavioural-based safety systems and very high standards in health and hygiene management. The purpose of the Senior position is to provide expert health and safety leadership to Mt Whaleback Health and Safety Advisors.
The positions core accountabilities include:
* An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development;
* Providing leadership and support to direct reports;
* Managing and allocating work to direct reports;
* Ensuring Health and Safety data is collected, analysed, tracked and reported on according to internal procedures and regulatory requirements;
* Compile and communicate reports to the Health and Safety Superintendent Mount Whaleback;
* Interact with the functional Health, Safety, and Environment department to ensure that Mount Whaleback is aligned with business and corporate wide initiatives;
* Develop and maintain working relationships with Mount Whaleback Managers, Superintendents, and Supervisors; and
* Manage specific Health and Safety projects aligned with the HSE Business Plan.
Skills and Experience
You will have significant health and safety experience complemented by relevant tertiary qualifications in health and safety. 5 years experience as a health and safety advisor or similar role is essential coupled with experience in management of HSE projects and supervising personnel. The successful candidate must have outstanding organisation and communication skills and the ability to compile and analysis data.
Location
This is a residential role based in Newman, a town of approximately eight thousand people. It has excellent sporting facilities that cater for a wide range of interests and age groups, a well-appointed shopping centre, and education services to senior level.
