Reporting to the Rehabilitation & Mine Services Superintendent, the Rehabilitation Crew Supervisor will be focused on a broad range of revegetation and land rehabilitation challenges:
Duties will include:
* Responsibility for establishment, maintenance and improvement of rehabilitation and nursery areas to industry best practice.
* Supervision, training and development of a team of Indigenous employees.
* Development and implementation of GEMCO’s Annual Remediation Plan
* Some supervision of earthworks tasks
* Collection, drying, cleaning and storing of seed to industry best practice standards.
* Maintaining comprehensive records for rehabilitation, seed management, weed management, rehabilitation monitoring, inputting of GIS data and other programmes as required.
* Review and revise Manuals, Procedures and Work Instructions associated with Rehabilitation, Topsoil Handling, Seed Management and Weed Management across site.
* Development and implementation of the Annual fire management plan.
* Fauna and flora monitoring in rehabilitation sites.
Relevant skills and abilities:
* A Diploma or Degree in Natural Resource Management, or equivalent, preferably with previous practical experience in mining rehabilitation.
* Employee training experience and preferably Cert. IV Workplace Training & Assessment
* Minimum of 2 years Supervisory experience in a similar position.
* Experience in minor earthworks.
* Cultural awareness will be required while working with Indigenous employees.
* A proven record in safety, cost control and budget management.
* Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience with software packages including Microsoft Office, Arcview GIS, and GSAP
