Our client is an emerging public listed base metal producer with existing operations in Africa and a number of other development projects in Africa and Asia. The Company is on track to become a significant mining organisation and this position is a key role which will assist the organisation in reaching its objectives.
The General Manager will take control of all mining and processing activities on site as well as maintaining and developing close working relationships with local, state and federal government departments and key stakeholders, as well as having involvement with a number of social development entities.
The ideal candidate will have appropriate tertiary qualifications with solid experience in managing a large mine site or who is ready for the next step in their career. Mining experience gained in third world environments would be highly regarded but is not mandatory. You will be a strong yet diplomatic manager who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be proactive, progressive and production focused. You will also be able to develop and document policies, procedures and systems to encourage a consistent and standardised approach to all site based activities. In addition you must be a solid leader/manager who sets guidelines and benchmarks and instills a disciplined work ethic into the workforce, while also ensuring that adequate and forward thinking training programs are implemented to aid in establishing a progressive culture into the workforce.
