Description: Technical Officer - Laboratory & Field Testing

VicRoads Technical Consulting is the centre of technical engineering expertise within VicRoads. It provides expert consultancy and advise in the areas of pavements, road construction materials, geotechnical, civil and traffic engineering and road, bridge and landscape design.

Technical Consulting is seeking an experienced Technical Officer - laboratory and field testing, within the Technical Services group. The role is responsible for working with and the training of a group of technicians with varying skills and experience within the technical services area.

This position also provides the focus for the delivery of materials testing services in a form that can be effectively understood by customers and stakeholders. This includes understanding and operating utilising standards, specifications, guidelines used by VicRoads, Councils and Industry.

This position is an excellent opportunity to help develop a committed team of practitioners in a dynamic area within an increasingly demanding and changing environment. This position requires a strong understanding of both laboratory and field practices, have cross discipline awareness, be creative in problem solving, show initiative, be able to work with a team and have an eye for detail. You will be committed to the ongoing development of Technical Services capability within VicRoads.
