Our client headquartered in Brisbane is seeking to employ a suitably qualified candidate to join their team in Brisbane as their Environmental Manager.

Reporting to the Director Sustainability, the Environmental Manager is responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of our client’s organisation and build relationships with the technical, mining & project teams and external regulators, government & landholders.

Key Accountabilities

* Manage and coordinate members of our client’s team and consultants to complete an Environmental Impact Statement and other approvals work on time and on budget.
* Liaise with and build strong, positive working relationships with key community, government and other stakeholders.
* As a key member of our client’s core development team, contribute to design and evaluation of overall project development plans.
* Provide high level advice and recommendations to the Technical, Mining and Project teams on environmental aspects of mine and plant design.

Essential/Desirable Criteria

* Bachelors degree (or equivalent) and preferably also a higher degree in Environmental Engineering, Science or Management
* Extensive relevant experience in Environment Manager roles
* Exceptional leadership capability, including the ability to chart direction and build and mentor a team across diverse disciplines and multiple sites
* Experience in managing a large scale complex EIS, preferably within Queensland
* Demonstrated thorough understanding of environmental approvals processes
* Well developed relationships with key external stakeholders including regulators and government departments, coupled with the ability to develop excellent relationships with company specific external stakeholders and internal stakeholders both functionally and departmentally
* The ability to work at a high level coupled with the ability to be hands on when required
