Barrick is the world’s largest gold mining company. Barrick operates the wholly owned Lawlers Gold Mine located in the North Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia, approximately 35kms west of Leinster. The Lawlers Gold Mine produces 120,000 oz of gold from 840,000 tonnes of ore each year.

We are seeking a self-motivated Mining Maintenance Superintendent to join our team at the Lawlers Gold Mine. Reporting to the Mine Manager you will lead the maintenance of Underground mobile and fixed mining plant, to ensure safe and efficient equipment with which to achieve required production to the Mining Department to cost, quality and quantity in line with schedule.

•Develop, implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety awareness and Barrick’s Safety and Health Policy
• Be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the team
• Develop, implement and maintain procedures to ensure functions are carried out in an environmentally sustainable manner
• Ensure effective communication of work and issues/conditions status takes place with delegate prior to departure from site
• Develop continuous improvement targets for the function and drive and measure achievement of these targets
• Organise the work of the team to ensure all functions and services are provided efficiently, while providing rewarding work, with clear accountabilities and authorities
• Achieve availability targets for mining equipment so as to allow Production to achieve its required performance hours
• Manage the alliance with the Mine Maintenance Contractor
• Collect and analyse information to assess performance statistics, statutory requirements, systems efficiencies and business improvement initiatives
• Assist the Mining Manager with improvement related project tasks, change management initiatives and other projects to improve the efficiency of the underground operation.
• Maintain pumping facilities to allow efficient dewatering of mine to achieve its budgeted target.

Skills and Experience:
• Relevant tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering or a trade certificate in heavy duty equipment with a minimum of 5 years experience in a similair role in a hard rock mining environment.
• You are proficient with computerised maintenance management systems, ideally Oracle and will have a sound understanding of maintenance management principles.
• Sound problem solving and analytical skills coupled with good planning and organisational skills are attributes which are essential for this role.
The successful applicant will also possess an ability to work with others to achieve objectives within a dynamic maintenance environment. Good communication skills are essential.

This position is fly in/fly out from Perth on a 8 days on 6 days off roster. Excellent on-site accommodation is provided. Recreational facilities include internet café, Foxtel, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts and gymnasium.
