Basic Functions:
Provide support to Business Units with regards to drilling operations
Plan and initiate all field activities
Organize and hire services for field activities
Review and submit regulatory applications
Ensure all field operations are in compliance with regulatory and company policies
Review and approve all expenditures within responsible scope of work
Relationship:
Reports to Manager, Drilling and Completions.
Works closely with the Drilling and Completions team, Business Units and Surface Land.
Provide interaction with field operations and wellsite supervisors
Specific Responsibilites:
Responsible for ensuring that drilling operations are carried out in an orderly and efficient manner
Ensure corporate HSSE, and regulatory compliance is met with respect to field operations
Provide day to day liaison between field activities and respective production teams
Mentor field supervisors to perform daily tasks safely in accordance with company policies (HSSE) and procedures
Capture daily reports and costs in WellView
Monitor that all contractors are registered in Canadian HSE prior to use
Must be available to communicate with field staff 24 hours per day while operations are underway
Qualifications:
5 – 15 years engineering experience in well completions and workovers.
Technologist or Engineer.
Working knowledge and experience of the following: design and drilling operations engineering including casing and tubing designs, pore pressure / frac gradient prediction, drilling mechanics, directional drilling, drilling fluids, hydraulics, bit optimization, casing and liner running procedures and tools, cementing, well control, etc.
Experience with the following: critical H2S designs, operating procedures and related considerations; horizontal wells and drilling designs for same; non conventional drilling – including shale and CBM.
Software experience with casing design programs, hydraulics, directional, daily reporting data bases and administration of same. Such as WellView, Microsoft products, QBYTE, AFE Nav, SiteView, Petro Lab, etc.
Current Enform Certificates or equivalent, H2S Alive, 1St & 2nd Line Supervisors BOP, WHMIS, TDG, Safety Management and Reg. Awareness for Wellsite Supervision, Standard First Aid, etc
Team player, strong communicator, able to multitask.
Works well in a deadline driven work environment
