Location: Australia BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s mining operations in the vast Pilbara region of WA are one of the largest in the world, shipping more than 120 Mtpa of iron ore. The heavy haulage rail system, the heaviest in the world, uses state of the art technology across all facets of the operation. Located on the coast, Port Hedland is the largest regional centre in the north west, close to Broome, Karratha and Karijini National Park. We are now seeking a motivated and safety conscious individual to actively provide BHPBIO railroads with signalling support, necessary to ensure that the system operates in a safe and efficient manner. This role reports directly to the Supervisor Signals Projects.
Position Synopsis
Operating in a climate of continuous improvement, your key accountabilities will include:
* Assist in planning and replacing signalling infrastructure;
* Producing and updating technical drawings;
* Provide relevant documentation and use BHP documentation systems;
* Assist with maintenance, diagnosis and downloads of Automatic Train Protection systems;
* Ensure works and maintenance of signalling systems are conducted in accordance with BHPBIO policy and procedures;
* Working and liasing with maintenance and projects staff to achieve targets;
* Conducting travel management for Signals staff; and
* On call to assist with fault rectification and investigations of reported incidents.
Your effective communication skills will be deployed to strengthen the team, by providing advice to colleagues, liaising constructively with other personnel while valuing their input and contribution.
You will display total commitment to a “zero harm” environment through your active participation and leadership in safety meetings and site safety programs. You will have a gift for careful analysis and effective problem solving, the proven ability to recognise areas for improvement and the initiative to propose solutions.
Skills and Experience
You will have a minimum of two years experience in the signalling support field. Skills such as drafting and familiarity with the rail environment, including devices such as automatic train protection, locomotive borne control systems, signalling equipment, wayside devices. In addition, you will have had experience in a team leader role and be able to demonstrate the ability to remain calm under pressure and be able to recognise and prioritise work as required.
You will have completed a diploma level of formal qualification in Drafting or equivalent. In addition, you will hold a registered ‘A’ Class drivers licence.
Location
This role is based in Port Hedland and is offered on a Fly In Fly out basis from Perth on a family friendly roster. A competitive remuneration package is offered commensurate with experience, and includes performance incentive and a generous superannuation scheme, as well as other benefits.
