BMA is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified Technical Services Manager at its Saraji Mine.
Saraji is an open cut operation which uses draglines and truck and shovel fleets to expose, haul and produce over 8 mtpa of hard coking coal. Our employees live in Dysart - a modern town of 3,500, 240km from Mackay and the Whitsunday Coast.
Reporting to the Mine General Manager, you will have demonstrated a combination of technical, mining and leadership skills that equip you to take responsibility for all activities of the Technical Services Department. Strong leadership skills are essential, as is the ability to enhance the organisation. As a departmental manager and an integral part of the mine-site leadership team, you will be involved in a variety of roles with various mine-wide strategic and operational initiatives.
Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to the following:
Develop, implement and improve 5 Year Plans, 2 Year Budgets and Short Range Forecasts.
Managing all surveying activities on site
Coordinating relevant aspects of the budgeting process and the 5 Year plan
Implementation of key business improvement initiatives
The successful candidate will ideally have:
An overriding commitment to safety and the environment
A proven record of providing effective technical support to a successful mining operation
Effective communication skills, with the ability to harness the creativity of a high quality engineering team towards optimising the business performance of the mine
Significant experience across a broad range of mining activities
Tertiary qualifications in mining/engineering
Dragline design knowledge and operational experience
Experience in continuous business improvement and operating excellence initiatives
