Location: Australia PEAK DOWNS - Owned and operated by the BMA, Peak Downs Mine is one of the world’s largest open cut coal operations, producing 9 mtpa of hard coking coal. Our 800 employees live in nearby Moranbah, a modern well-equipped town 200km west of Mackay and the Whitsunday coast.
Peak Downs currently have a vacancy for a Coal Processing Productivity Improvement Superintendent. Reporting to the Coal Processing Manager, you will be responsible for the supervision of multi-skilled work teams in order to optimise plant throughput, recovery, quality and costs in accordance with the BMA’s policies and objectives. Ensuring that the plant’s performance aligns with mine operating requirements of timely and cost effective supply of coal to the customer within specifications is a key responsibility of this role.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
By means of attitude and actions, demonstrate a consistent, visible, and proactive leadership and commitment towards;
Achieving ‘zero harm’ in HSEC
Achieving the sites environmental objectives and targets
Ensuring the compliance of all personnel in respect to HSEC Company policies and procedures, the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and Regulations and to understand the consequence of deviation
Demonstrating commitment to and actively encouraging the involvement and motivation of personnel in promoting the BMA Charter.
• Analyse the CPP performance and develop programs to improve productivity.
• Increase the automation of the CPP where required to improve the stability of CPP operation
• Development of project scope, cost, APEC’s and business cases.
• Involvement in the development of CPP Budget
• Liaising with production and maintenance personnel to optimise productivity activities
• Supervision of the metallurgical staff
• Actively contribute towards achieving department KPI targets
• Ensure compliance with company/site policies and procedures
• Maintain and mentor a highly motivated and skilled workforce by providing training and personnel support
• Maintain a stable industrial environment through involving department employees in productivity improvement programs.
• Utilise effective change management principles and systems
The successful candidate will have:
• Appropriate technical qualifications (Engineering / Science degree)
• Experience with continuous improvement
• 5 years Management/Supervisory experience
• 10 years experience in processing plants
• QMS 1, 2 & 3
• G2
