We are expanding every facet of our Iron Ore business as we develop new ways to deliver competitive advantages to our customers. Our most recent growth project, Rapid Growth Project 5, will take installed capacity at our Western Australian Iron Ore operations to 205mpta by the second half of calendar year 2011.
We now seek a safety-conscious and motivated individual to undertake a challenging and rewarding position, operating within an established maintenance management system, where your key focus will be to promote a high level of team interaction and coordination.
Position Synopsis
You will apply your knowledge of Vehicle Maintenance to optimise maintenance tasks and work quality. Consistent application of your efforts will contribute to the achievement of business targets.
Some of your other key accountabilities will include:
* Maintaining a high profile in the promotion of safe working conditions and practices to ensure a safe working environment;
* Taking responsibility for identifying and resolving problems, and for assessing the potential impact on external departments;
* Reviewing ongoing planning activities with the aim of continuously improving equipment availability and reliability; and
* Manage and develop a small team consisting of mechanical fitters, auto electricians, trade assistants, contract supervision and planning
Skills and Experience
To effectively undertake this role essential requirements include a Mechanical Trade Certificate as a Motor Mechanic, with a sound understanding of petrol and or diesel engine fundamentals, hydraulics, equipment diagnostic skills, tyres and as a minimum a HR license. You will have past supervisory experience and a proven track record with leading teams.
Not only will you be experienced in servicing and maintaining light vehicles, machinery, small earthmoving equipment and trucks, you will also have experience in auto electrical work.
Computer literate, you will display excellent interpersonal skills as you communicate with all levels of the workforce. To achieve success you will demonstrate a methodical, systematic approach to work, coupled with a strong sense of personal responsibility, and effective problem solving capabilities.
Location
This is a residential role, based in Port Hedland in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Located on the coast, Port Hedland is the largest regional centre in the North West, close to Broome, Karratha and Karijini National Park. The 15,000-strong population enjoys well-established education service, entertainment, sporting, shopping and medical facilities, and a strong sense of community.
