Contract Accountant

Our Client is a gold mining company in the final stages of construction of a mine in West Africa. The project is about to enter the commissioning phase and some further technical/ expatriate skills are required.

The company require the services of experienced ACCOUNTANT on an open pit mining process in Africa.

>> Experience:
• You will have experience of project accounting related to sourcing, annotation and audit trail and provisions of payments on mid-sized construction projects;
• You will be a person with successful experience of more than 2 years in a similar role, preferably in a remote mining setting;
• You will have experience of working with corporate accounts and providing all the relevant audit information (paper trail, spreadsheets, procurement and accounting data, etc.) required to finalise project payments and retentions.
• You will report to the PROJECT ACCOUNTANT.
• You will speak French.

>> Responsibility:
• You could be a trained accountant with acoouting, clerical analysis, forensic analysis and reporting (Excel, annotation and relating) skills;
• You will be responsible for assisting the PROJECT ACCOUNTANT with his duties. devising the project paper trail (scope, extras and changes);
• You would liaise between the mine and the project manager’s team – good communication and inter-personal skills would be key.

This is a 6 month contract and you will be required to start at short notice. You will be remunerated to USD-based expatriate terms of employment. You will be prepared to work on a remote mine site in West Africa for the contract period – previous remote site experience will be useful. This is not a hardship posting; the country is stable and the capital has much to offer to the weary worker. The contract will be a single status contract with work for 6 weeks and off for 2 weeks. Accommodation and 3-meals per day are on offer with a good standard of on-site accommodation with room plus en suite bathroom.
