Position Synopsis
We now seek a self-motivated individual to take ownership for the direction and coordination of employees and contractors associated with our Operations Services section. Working within a team that manages a broad range of service activities supporting the Nelson Point and Finucane Island Operations, the scope of this role covers bulking of ore within the sites, road sweeping, dust suppression, fixed plant cleaning, supervision of contractors and general site improvement initiatives.
Other key accountabilities will include:
* Maintaining high standards of HSE performance;
* Developing and coaching employees and contractors to work effectively within one team;
* Managing and improving surface mobile equipment standards inline with BHP Billiton protocols;
* Liaising with other teams for optimised outcomes;
* Developing systems and processes for planning and scheduling of work;
* Supervision of mobile plant activities to meet planned requirements;
* Leading and influencing contractors to achieve agreed performance targets;
* Ensuring compliance with all statutory legislation and internal regulations and policy.
Skills and Experience
A proven track record of leading teams in a fast paced environment will be critical to your success. To be considered, you will have mobile plant experience as well as the ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of operations planning and managing service contractors in a mining environment. Fixed plant experience will be considered favourable. Your logical approach, coupled with effective analytical and problem-solving skills are essential to meeting the challenges presented here.

This is a residential role, based in Port Hedland in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Located on the coast, Port Hedland is the largest regional centre in the North West, close to Broome, Karratha and Karijini National Park. The 15,000-strong population enjoys well-established education service, entertainment, sporting, shopping and medical facilities, and a strong sense of community.
