Role Profile:
BHP Billiton’s Global Petroleum Controllers team is responsible for external reporting, systems development, process improvement, financial analysis, and governance activities for Petroleum worldwide. In addition, the group develops and delivers Petroleum’s actual and forecast reporting to the Petroleum Exco and Corporate. The team works directly with the CFO and President of Petroleum, business units, regional support groups, and the Global Business Services organization to deliver on these reporting and stewardship objectives.
This individual will work closely with business units, Global Business Services in Adelaide and External IT providers in delivering quality reporting systems providing outputs that are both efficient and accurate. SAP-R3, the SAP-SEM data warehouse (PEPM), and the SAP Portal are used as the underlying systems which facilitate much of the management reporting that is undertaken by the Petroleum CSG.
Key Relationships:
This position reports directly to the Manager Financial Systems
This position has no staff management responsibilities

Job Requirements:
We are seeking an individual with a strong inclination for financial systems to provide ongoing business support and assist in the development of business reporting tools from the SAP toolset. The goal is to support and drive streamlined management reporting and forecasting processes. Accordingly, the successful candidate must have a strong understanding of both transactional and consolidation finance systems. They must display strong problem solving skills, have the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization and demonstrate the ability to be flexible, as there will be significant interaction with colleagues across the globe in various time zones. This is a hands-on role involving active investigation of issues and improvement opportunities, as appropriate for a continuous improvement environment.
Experience & Qualifications Required:
* Possess an undergraduate degree in business, finance or accounting.
* CPA / CA or equivalent post graduate qualification in finance is strongly preferred.
* Minimum of five - seven years post graduate experience including exposure to financial and managerial accounting.
* Strong interest and competency in financial systems (SAP-SEM, SAP, Hyperion).
* High level skills in MS Excel (including Visual Basic programming).
* High level of competency in SAP and SAP BW.
* Understanding of management reporting requirements.
* Previous experience in the upstream oil and gas industry is strongly preferred.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills, a collaborative style, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
* A self-starter who works well without direct or close supervision.

Accountabilities:
* Responsible for the processing and support of the PEPM (SAP-SEM) period close requirements.
* Responsible for the development / maintenance of the “Flash Reporting” toolset.
* Assist in the administration of the PEPM system landscape, and associated processes working closely with IT.
* Assist in maintaining the integrity of results reported from financial systems.
* Assist in the ongoing PEPM developmental effort as a Finance functional subject matter expert, and other finance process improvement projects as required
* Liaising with Petroleum assets, Shared Business Services, CSC and Controllers Group to address any Business Systems data and process issues which may be impacting the actuals/forecasting reporting process.
* Assist in building automated reports utilizing both the Business Explorer (BEx) and Web Query Designer (products of the SAP-SEM) in response to business requirements.
* Liaising with Petroleum Assets and Controllers Management Reporting team to agree common reporting standards and definitions.
* Working closely with the Controllers Management Reporting team ensuring consistency between PEPM and the consolidation system (BCS).
* Documentation of processes.
* Assist in the preparation of training materials for users.
* Assist in process improvement initiatives for month-end close and reporting.
