Position Overview:
Operating on a 16 days on, 12 days off roster commuting from Cairns, you will work as part of a highly trained, multicultural team on this exciting international project. The Porgera Joint Venture is based in the Highlands of Enga Province in Papua New Guinea and offers a unique and challenging work environment. At an elevation in excess of 2100 meters and surrounded by limestone buttes the Porgera Valley has a temperate climate all year round with an annual rainfall in excess of 3.6 meters.
The opportunity exists for you to relocate to Cairns and enjoy a relaxed lifestyle in a modern and dynamic city offering excellent educational facilities up to university level. Alternatively and subject to conditions, the company will subsidise on-travel airfares paid to commute to and from Cairns for each work roster.
LAND MANAGEMENT & RELOCATION MANAGER
The position
Reporting to the Manager, Community & Environment you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and monitoring of systems and processes for the acquisition of land for mining purposes, the administration of all existing leases and easements and the relocation and compensation of landowners affected by the Porgera Operations.
The person
We are seeking a Manager who has proven skills in Land Administration and Relocation including experience in managing multi-faceted rural development projects in isolated, indigenous communities in developing nations. You will need to possess good project management and administration skills.
You will possess recognised tertiary qualifications in Land Administration or Community Development and have verifiable experience of successfully engaging and negotiating with traditional communities to achieve mutually acceptable outcomes under complex socio-cultural conditions. Having confident and effective communication and computer skills are also highly regarded to engage across all levels including senior management, legal entities and stakeholders.
This challenging role requires you to engage with all people associated with the PJV Operations and to understand, learn from and share cultural differences. It is essential that you have the capability and desire to transfer skills and knowledge to a national workforce.
