In the current market the best way to sure up the future is to work with an operating company and one with a diverse range of projects and operating assets. The position of General Manager - Project Implementation is a newly created role within a Melbourne based integrated energy company with an asset portfolio spanning oil & gas and power generation, and a project portfolio encompassing exploration and renewable energy. Based in Melbourne this role will oversee project development and execution across the portfolio whilst bringing together the project teams to streamline processes and create synergies across the fundamental areas of project management. First and foremost, you are a Project Manager with a construction background and you must be able to demonstrate competencies in the key areas of planning, risk management, contracts, cost control and close-out. In particular we will looking for evidence of:
A high level proficiency with planning and project controls tools.
Creating risk profiles for capital projects including both commercial and HSEQ risks and appropriate management frameworks that ensure these deliverables are met.
Contract negotiation and management with a particular focus on EPCM contracts with capital projects in the energy sector.
Thorough knowledge of cost control procedures and reporting protocols.
Sound management principles and the ability to bring together project teams, mentor and develop a group of project engineers and junior project managers.
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Construction preferably combined with a supporting qualification in Business or Commerce.
Your track record in successfully delivering major capital projects in the energy sector will be paramount in this role. We expect you to have developed key relationships with the leading EPCM contractors, engineering consultancies and OEM suppliers operating in Australia and New Zealand. Ideally your project profile will include both gas developments and power generation whilst some exposure to the renewable sector would be viewed favourably. This staff position is one of a kind. It offers a unique diversity across the range of energy projects across Australia and while being based in Melbourne it will involve some commitment to travel. Naturally there are requirements for some out of business hours work during critical parts of projects as well.
