With an extensive reserve base measured in decades, Teck Coal is strongly positioned in the global marketplace. Currently, Teck Coal is the world’s second largest exporter of seaborne hard coking coal. Reporting to the General Manager, Operational Performance, the Reliability Leader is accountable to lead and assist in the effective implementation of proven reliability processes across all Teck Coal sites. The Reliability Leader will work within the Teck Maintenance and Reliability Initiative and with the Teck Reliability Leader and will be accountable to co-ordinate Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) implementation, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) implementation, and Condition Based Monitoring program development and improvement across the coal sites.
Dimensions
Monetary responsibility and influence: Overall Maintenance spending across Teck Coal is approximately $400 million. The Reliability Leader will work closely with site organizations and within the overall Maintenance and Reliability Initiative to reduce the spending by at least 10%.
Internal contacts: Sparwood and Vancouver staff, mine operations staff – primarily maintenance personnel.
External contacts: Reliability consultants, equipment suppliers, reliability professionals in other companies.
Specific Accountabilities
• Co-ordinate the training and implementation of RCFA at Coal sites. Coach site reliability engineers on effective use of RCFA training and Bad Actor Process.
• Work with sites to co-ordinate overall RCM schedule, assess RCM consultants’performance; ensure transfer of skills to internal resources and timely implementation of RCM outputs.
• Oversee the development and utilization of reliability skills for predictive technologies such as vibration analysis, non-destructive testing (NDT), lubrication, etc within the sites.
• Monitor, analyze and make recommendations regarding the results of reliability related key performance indicators (KPIs) at sites.
• Assess and evaluate merits of implementing new predictive technologies for equipment reliability improvement at sites.
• Actively participate in the maintenance best practice superintendent group.
• Monitor failure and cost analysis for common component and equipment issues across sites and lead consultations with equipment manufacturers to improve performance.
The qualified applicant must possess Engineering or related degree and several years of experience in industrial maintenance. Also a minimum of 4 years of direct experience in application of Reliability tools including Reliability Centered Maintenance and Root Cause Failure Analysis.
