Electrical Technician - Barron Gorge Hydro Power Station

Stanwell Corporation Limited is a Queensland Government owned corporation with an energy portfolio comprising coal and hydro power generation facilities throughout Queensland. Currently Stanwell provides more than 30% of the State's electricity requirements.

If you are an Electrical Technician with experience in power generation or heavy industry maintenance this could be your opportunity for employment in a supportive workplace. This role will provide technical skills and knowledge in the maintenance, operation and identification of improvement opportunities at the hydro power plant, whilst also coordinating site planning and scheduling processes. The role will be responsible for displaying leadership behaviour and actively assist in the mentoring and coaching of staff.

The position is based at Barron Gorge Hydro Power Station which is located on the Barron River 20km north-west of Cairns North Queensland, in close proximity to the Great Barrier Reef and offers modern facilities, quality schools and university access.

Role responsibilities will include:

* Higher level technical work – modifications, fault finding, investigations
* Monitoring plant and proposing improvements
* Attending planning meetings and assist in planning and prioritising work
* Project managing minor plant modifications

Qualifications and experience:

* A trade qualification as an Electrical Fitter Mechanic
* An Associate / Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or recognised equivalent)
* A current manual driver's license
* A minimum of three (3) years experience in a similar role, preferably in a power or heavy industry environment
* A flexible attitude, with strong communication and computer skills
