BHP Billiton is all about smart technology, innovation and great talent. If you want a challenging career and a chance to explore resource opportunities as well as your ambitions, we’re the company for you. Think ahead. Think BHP Billiton.
PURPOSE
• Effectively provide reservoir engineering evaluations of Exploration Division opportunities.
• Integrate all functional inputs into a fit-for-purpose evaluation (e.g., drilling, marketing, commercial, etc).
• Communicate results, including uncertainties and ranges, to PDE and higher management. Where appropriate, clearly recommend a course of action.
• Assist with well and DST planning and operations
• Leverage specialty skills across all Petroleum Division opportunities
• Share knowledge and learnings with Pre-Development Evaluation and the general reservoir engineering community.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Perform excellent technical work and maintain specific technical skills in one or more of the following disciplines: classic reservoir engineering, reservoir simulation, integrated production modelling, production forecasting.
• Proactively identify uncertainties and risks in conceptual field development scenarios and identify solutions to effectively resolve them.
• Effectively evaluate prospects in new ventures, exploration, and appraisal stages using fit-for-purpose methodologies.
• Develop production forecasts for prospects in the exploration and appraisal stage using analytical and numerical methods.
• Provide ranges in recovery factors and production profiles that account for all subsurface uncertainties using fit-for purpose methodologies.
• Develop feasible field development concepts as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Work closely with an integrated PDE team to develop understanding of reservoirs and development risks.
• Identify recovery efficencies due to water injection, artificial lift, active well management, and reservoir management and include these recovery efficiencies in production forecasts.
• Manage PVT and MDT data and flow assurance studies and incorporate data in reservoir assessments.
• Present evaluation results to the team, in peer reviews, in joint partner meetings and workshops.
• Adhere to HSEC policy and management standards, and exercise BHPB’s safe work policies
• Transfer knowledge and learnings to other Reservoir Engineers in PDE and the Petroleum reservoir engineering community.
• Constructively participate on occasion in Peer Reviews and Assists of Exploration, Development, and Production projects.
