With 2009 leaving career options scarce at the Junior end of the job market, this is a refreshing and exciting position for a Junior Mechanical Engineer who is interested in more diversity and autonomy in their future.

With company progression planning in place for 2010, a new opportunity has been identified for a Bachelor Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer, with a couple of years experience gained in the local Building Services market.

This role will see you develop your capability as an engineer covering the full Mechanical HVAC system design and project development phases. Including the following;

* Develop system options at design development stages in conjunction with senior staff.
* Undertake initial space planning exercises for plant rooms and primary service routes.
* Learn what is involved in initial budget costing and monitor design development in relation to cost.
* Attend design team and site meetings with senior staff.
* Undertake site surveys of existing installations.
* Undertake principal design calculations associated with Building Services systems (heat gain/losses, duct and pipe sizing, plant sizing, fan and pump sizing). Equipment selection and production of tender quality drawings.
* Liaise with CAD and Admin departments to achieve drawing and documentation production to meet client deadlines.

You may have joined an engineering practice, but be disillusioned with the lack of involvement you have in design, and on projects. Perhaps you have started your career in construction and but wanting to switch to the other side.
