Our client operates one of the richest & largest base metal complexes in Africa. Based in Central Africa but with offices in London & Johannesburg they now seek the services of an experienced HR professional to fill the role of General Manager – Human Resources managing some 500 indirect & 4 direct reports.

With the title of Secretary General and reporting to the Chief Operating officer the incumbent will be responsible for:

* Developing & managing HR strategies to support the activities other divisions within the group.
* Managing Employee/Industrial relations to ensure an effective working relationship with the Unions and Government
* Developing & managing policies directed towards ensuring a safe working environment.
* Establishing monitoring policies & procedures to ensure that environmental impact is within legally defined limits.
* Ensuring a secure working environment.

The successful candidate will have:

* Significant experience in a similar role.
* A minimum of 10 years experience in the mining industry
* A minimum of 5 years experience in Central, West or East Africa.
* French language skills.
* Tertiary qualifications in HR or a mining/mineral processing discipline will be viewed favourably.

This is a senior role within a young and rapidly developing organisation and the remuneration package will reflect this. Modern accommodation is available on site.
