VICE PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Compensation: Negotiable, based on experience, w/bonus & Exec. Perks

The Vice President and Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of approximately 25 technical professionals based in Canada and China; providing mining and geological consulting services to a wide variety of clients around the world.

This position is based in the head office in Toronto and reports to the Managing Director, also based in Toronto. Frequent travel will be required.

General Functions:

Review and assign work in order to best utilize the skills and abilities of the professional staff.
Ensure deadlines are realistic and achieved.
Liaise closely with UK and Zambia offices to ensure skills are effectively utilized.
Work closely with clients to maintain clear communications.
Maintain an industry profile to assist in marketing the services of Company.
Implement an effective human resources management plan for both recruiting and career advancement for existing professional staff.
Achieve financial performance objectives.
Benchmark key performance indicators and major processes in order to move towards best practices and assure quality and consistency in consulting assignments.
Assure compliance with all external regulatory agencies and organizations for all areas of responsibility.
Develop supportive working relationships with peers.

The Vice President and Director of Operations works closely with:

the Executive Vice President, who is in charge of marketing and works closely with the Managing Director and the President in developing business growth strategies;
The Vice President and Director of Operations in the London UK office;
The Vice President and General Manager of Quebec Operations;
Accounting and administrative support personnel;

Experience requirements -

Education:

Undergraduate degree or higher in one of mining engineering, geology, geological engineering, or metallurgy.

Working Experience:

Minimum twenty years of direct industry experience.

Professional Registration:

Professional Engineer or similar; able to meet the requirements of a Qualified Person under Canadian Securities Regulations.



Experience Type and Duration:

Major Mining Company Experience - Mandatory; five years minimum
Multiple Companies Experience - Mandatory
Consulting Experience - Mandatory; five years minimum, ten years preferred
Mine Operations Experience - Mandatory; seven years minimum.
Project Development Experience - Mandatory
Management/Leadership Experience - Mandatory; five years minimum, ten years preferred
North American Experience - Mandatory
International Experience - Mandatory
Junior Mining Company Experience - Preferred
Marketing Experience - Preferred
Mining Contractor Experience - Desirable
languages

A demonstrated ability to communicate exceptionally well both verbally and in writing in English is a mandatory requirement. Ability in other languages is desirable.

Travel -

Although extended travel is rare, the ability to travel frequently on short notice is mandatory.
