Ten of Barrick’s mining operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in Perth, Western Australia.   The Team at Barrick attribute their success to their entrepreneurial flair and strong corporate values – built on an attitude of personal ownership, a sense of urgency, cohesive teamwork, a commitment to continuous improvement and the delivery of results.  Their strong team focus on safety ensures that “every person goes home safe and healthy every day”.   Sourcing Officer Working within the Supply Chain Management Department this role reports into the Sourcing Superintendent based at our Regional Office in Perth.  The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that forward pricing agreements are formulated and maintained in accordance with Barrick’s policies and procedures. This is an excellent opportunity to combine your experience in supply chain along with developed customer service skills to make a difference in this role.    Duties and responsibilities include:

• Develop and maintain relationships with both internal and external suppliers
• Preparation of tender and contractual documentation for commodities and goods
• Conduct tender evaluations
• Ability to research all aspects of mining supply
• Liaise with Sites and Technical Services over material requirements
• Monitor supplier performance against contract requirements
• Actively participate in the development and ongoing review of procedures
• Identify potential cost saving opportunities and initiate actions to capture savings
• Support of relevant systems as required

  The successful applicant will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• Tertiary qualifications in a Business, Legal or a Supply Chain related discipline
• Proven experience within the same or similar role
• Experience within mining/resources is preferred, within other industries with a strong Supply Chain function will also be considered.
• Some commodity contracts management experience is desirable
• Highly developed analytical skills
• Competency in the use of ERP (e.g. Oracle) is desirable but not required
• Commercial acumen and understanding of Contract Law and Insurance Law
