Diavik Diamond Mines (DDMI) owns Rio Tinto's interest in and manages the unincorporated Diavik diamonds joint venture in the Northwest Territories of Canada. Mining takes place in the lake bed at Lac de Gras with water held back by a dike made of rock fill. With approximately 800 employees, Diavik is instrumental in making Canada the world's third largest diamond producer by value. Diavik has won awards for its sensitive management of environmental and community issues.

 

This is a temporary position.   Reporting to the Team Leader, Purchase to Pay, the Advisor, Contracts will work at the Yellowknife Corporate Office on a five (5) days on / two (2) days off rotational basis. The Advisor, Contracts will assist the Business Unit Process Team Leader by providing functional knowledge and in producing the deliverables on their particular functional area, ensuring the success of the RTBS implementation.   The Advisor, Contracts will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

• A high level of understanding and ability to apply sound Commercial Law and Mining requirements and methodologies applicable to the procurement of goods and services.
• Provide functional content knowledge.
• Attend and contribute to the process team solution and gap assessment workshops.
• Learning and adopting the RTBS global business process and sub process for their particular functional area.
• Reviewing Business Unit specific configured solution and ensuring it meets functional specifications.
• Manage data required and cleansing for their part functional area.
• To play a role in defining the test scenario and executing the test.
• Support training design and delivery by providing input on training material content and delivery of some training courses/ train the trainer sessions.
• Liaise with the Procurement and Logistics Teams to ensure a clear understanding of all related processes for project design.
• Ensure compliance with BU and Rio Tinto policies and procedures.
• Possess strong negotiation and industrial relations skills.
• Identify and assist to solve potential data related barriers to successful implementation.
• Meet personal safety plan commitments.
• Act as an advocate of the RTBS program.
• Support the development of a co-operative and committed work culture within RTP and DDMI groups by supporting common vision, values and direction, consistent personal behaviour and role modeling, regular communications and co-ordination initiatives, and close attention to developing positive cultural norms.

 

The successful candidate will be one whose #1 priority is safety in the work place.   The incumbent will have:

• Preferred diploma and/or comparable experience in Business/ Logistics/Procurement.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in ERP systems (Ellipse preferred).
• Minimum of three (3) years of related experience is preferred.
• Experience from an SAP implementation, particularly RTBS is an asset.
