Our client is a privately held corporation with diverse operations and subsidiaries in smelting, refining, mining, processing, purchasing, selling and marketing of metals, minerals, and agricultural products. The Company is targeted to more than double their mining operation within the next three years, transforming the present organization into a large world class mining complex. All equipment required for the production increase will be purchased over the next two years. The increase in production will be accompanied by construction of coal handling, maintenance and office facilities at the mining operations.

Due to this expansion in their Columbian operations they are seeking a Maintenance Manager to manage all aspects of the maintenance activities of the operation, including safety and environmental requirements, and all other actions required to deliver the agreed business plan.

Reporting to the Vice President Operations you will be responsible for: -
* Developing and maintaining a maintenance management structure for safe operations in a way that facilitates the development and implementation of the mining operations Safety & Health Management Systems
* Developing and implementing a maintenance management structure to clearly identify roles, responsibilities and competencies required by senior personnel within the department
* Developing and implementing a safety and health management system
* Ensuring that the resources required to satisfy the Policy Objectives are available
* Ensuring that personnel are suitably developed and undergo appropriate training and assessment
* Undertaking a pro-active role in the leadership and management of the maintenance department
* Playing an active role in managing and controlling expenses of the maintenance department
* The development of the annual maintenance budget, inclusive of life cycle costing, cost buildup and equipment cost segmentation
* Ensuring that MARC contracts are managed in accordance with agreements with equipment suppliers, and ensure that agreed key performance indicators for MARC contracts are met
* Developing and maintaining good relationship with equipment and spares suppliers
* Continuously monitoring spare parts and component stock levels and adjusting according to equipments age and usage
* Interfacing with the purchasing and project departments and make recommendations regarding equipment specification, spare parts and spare parts coverage
* Interfacing with mine managers and other senior production personnel regarding equipment utilization, application, preventative maintenance shutdowns and major breakdowns
* Providing ongoing review and improvement of maintenance reporting systems
* Participate in development of annual production, operational and cost budgets
* Maintaining effective interfaces with other areas in the company

To be considered for this opportunity it is expected that you possess:
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant mechanical trade qualifications with significant experience in a similar role
* Significant experience in open pit mining operations
* Approximately 10 years experience in senior maintenance positions within the mining industry
* Solid experience with reporting requirements, operating procedures, human relations and administrative standards of an international organization
* Fluent English language skills
* Spanish language skills will be highly regarded, but are not essential
