Shift Supervisor - Acid Plant/Feed Preparation

Position Synopsis

The Acid Plant/Feed Preparation Supervisor leads a team of Specialists and Technicians in operating an acid plant producing approximately 500,000 tonnes of sulphuric acid per year, including steam as a by-product from sulphur burning and a feed preparation plant that filters and dries approximately 450,000 tonnes per year of copper concentrate with Larox pressure filters and steam dryers.

Reporting to the Production Superintendent, the Shift Supervisor’s core role is to safely and efficiently plan and lead the activities of the Acid Plant and Feed Preparation team in accordance with BHP Billiton quality and safety procedures. You will make best use of available resources to implement the productivity plan and be alert for opportunities to improve work practices and procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

* Achieving key performance indicators in the key result areas of safety, environment, production, people, costs and quality,
* Implementation of the Smelter productivity plan in the safest and most cost efficient manner,
* Responsibility for people management including development and coaching every team member to ensure high standards, conduct performance and development reviews and maintain manning levels.
* Monitoring maintenance activities to ensure continuous production,
* Ensuring shift changeovers are conducted in an efficient manner as not to impede on productivity, and
* Continuing to develop the team to enhance continuous improvement projects.

Although experience in operating similar plants is desirable, training and development opportunities will be provided.
