Position Synopsis

We have a unique opportunity within the Petroleum Group for a suitably skilled individual to provide specialist external affairs services in support of key functional requirements of the External Affairs team.

Assisting the Regional External Affairs and Community Manager, you will be responsible for research, analysis, project planning and implementation across a range of External Affairs activities including issues management, organisation reputation, stakeholder relations and emergency response.

You will also lead or contribute to community-based initiatives associated with the Australia businesses and projects. This will involve the preparation and implementation of Community Relations plans, including community consultation strategies and the development and maintenance of strong and positive links between BHP Billiton Petroleum and local communities. You will maintain community programmes through effective development, implementation, benchmarking and measurement.

In addition, you will establish customer and internal client satisfaction as a key goal and demonstrate pro-activity and innovation in providing a high quality of service in the achievement of set objectives.
Skills & Experience

To be considered for the position, you will possess tertiary qualifications in an area where communication and analytical thinking are a salient feature. You will have previous experience in an external affairs or similar role; communications, analysis, marketing or government service. Awareness of environmental issues and exposure to the oil and gas industry will be favourably viewed.

Your accomplishments thus far in your career testify to your excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You use sound judgement and discretion, and demonstrate well developed written and presentation skills, facilitating your ability to build productive relationships with a diversity of stakeholders.
