Senior Exploration Geophysicist

Purpose

• To provide geophysical knowledge and support for the Exploration Team throughout the exploration process.

• To form part of and help supervise a well organised exploration team, with the specific objectives of discovering, testing and defining an economically viable resource for the company using a judicious exploration process.

Reporting Relationships

The Senior Exploration Geophysicist reports to the Country Manager, the Regional Exploration Manager and the Head of Global assessment/technical as required, and is a member of the exploration team.

Duties
1. Review, compile, image and interpret historical geophysical data for the exploration area as part of the office review.
2. Provide comprehensive geophysical data, images and interpretation for the current exploration projects and develop an effective geophysical database.
3. Provide technical and experiential knowledge to team members.
4. Co-ordinate all geophysical programmes during the ongoing exploration projects.
5. To develop as a member of the exploration team a sound and effective understanding of the application of geophysics in exploration.
6. Be a good team member, contribute to the success and continued development of the team skills and ensure effective communication with other team members.
7. Ensure that all team members are adequately informed of SUN Mining safety systems and that all necessary state and federal commitments and guidelines are fully implemented and adhered to.
8. Ensure that the exploration team maintains a high level of awareness of environmental and heritage considerations during the exploration process.
9. Ensure technical work is high in quality, cost effective, carried out efficiently and reported on professionally.
10. To develop new concepts and strategies based upon the developing experience and understanding of the team, which will keep SUN Mining at the forefront of the mineral exploration process
11. Ensure that SUN Mining is both well known and respected by the global exploration community through networking representation on industry bodies, ethical business practices and maintenance of high technical standards.
12. Contribute to the achievement of SUN Mining’s quality policies by encouraging an environment where high quality work is achieved and supported by the adherence/development of quality systems documentation.

The position is responsible for ensuring that subordinate staff attend a safety induction program. The position is also accountable for ongoing workplace health and safety practices within its own area of responsibility and contributes to SUN Mining’s best practice health and safety program.

Other Information

• SUN Mining employees are expected to be bound by the principles of respect for local and national law and system of government, respect for people, integrity, diligence, and economy and efficiency, which are contained in the Particulars of Employment.
• Personnel may be required to work across mine and office sites, work after hours and on occasions, travel internationally.
