Senior Mineral Exploration / Project Geologist

Our Client is a privately owned professional consulting / contracting company providing technical solutions for the Mineral Exploration and Water Development sectors in Central and Southern Africa.

With offices in Central Africa and representation on Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the company has provided expertise to both local and international clients all over the region (including Zambia, DRC, Malawi, Mozambique, Republic of Congo, Gabon, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe).

Due to our increasing workload in the extremely buoyant mineral exploration sector, the company is seeking a self-motivated, talented, and technically oriented Senior Mineral Exploration / Project Geologist.

The position provides a great opportunity to join an experienced and growing reputable consulting-contracting company that provides international technical and operational standards (e.g. JORC, NI43-101) to a developing market. Exposure to a variety of exploration projects for several different commodities in a variety of different geological terrains including the Zambian – DRC Copperbelt is extremely likely.

You will be based out of Lusaka and should hold/ demonstrate the following:

• An advanced degree in Mineral Exploration or Mineral Deposit Evaluation is preferable, building upon a strong Geological background.
• A minimum 10-years (or more) of progressive ‘hands on’ experience conducting a variety of Mineral Exploration / Evaluation tasks.
• The skills necessary to plan, manage and participate in all aspects of one or more exploration projects possibly running simultaneously and possibly covering a large geographical area.
• Good client liaison and contractor supervision skills.
• Proven technical report writing skills with an excellent command of the English language.
• A desire and patience to strengthen / pass on skills to other team members.
• A willingness to travel and undertake regular field work in Zambia and the surrounding countries
• A current driving license.

Experience with GIS / Data Management software and systems as well as a basic working understanding of the French language would also be a distinct advantage.
