This position requires a resourceful Manager, preferably with Mineral Sands experience, to manage the Technical Services Department and support the various Heads of Departments.
Primary focus of the role
To actively support safety in the workplace across the client's mining lease.
To provide a healthy and safe working environment.
To provide technical support to the client.
To manage the Technical Services department and support the heads of the sections within the department. Support the supervisors in their daily role.
To promote continuous improvement in the department and support continuous improvement across the site.
Dimensions
Full understanding of Metallurgy
Mining experience in Technical Services
Tertiary qualifications in Science (chemistry, metallurgy, mineralogy or mining)
Management at higher levels
Management Capabilities
Statistical Tools - SPSS software
Communication meetings - to source problems
Technical procedures and reports - collate data received
Utilise knowledge & experience available - within the department and company
Outside sources
Provide operations with technical input emphasizing quality
EH&S - promote safety and healthy working environments, support environmental management
Security - support a secure environment for client's employees
Plant quality performance
Plant process management - chemical and metallurgical information
Mine Planning - provision of grade and ore data
Product sales - ‘on spec' shipments to improve acceptance of client's product
Occupational health - clean drinking water
Operation of power station - analysis of incoming fuel
Exploration - provision of grade and ore data
Laboratory information - provide accurate useable information
Maintenance - support with analytical information
Client Projects - provide technical support
