The client, a major copper mining company, is looking for a corporate Director of Maintenance and Engineering. This person will be a leader for the company in designing, managing and implementing a reliability-based maintenance and engineering program for full vertically integrated copper mining/production company. The ideal candidate is a degreed maintenance professional that has a well-rounded background in all facets of the metals/mining industry, including smelting/ melting/ pouring of some kind (you need not have been involved in all facets of the industry at one place). The candidate must also have excellent persuasion skills: you will put your program in place with a carrot, not a stick. The candidate MUST be a degreed professional with a verifiable history of successful operational maintenance/engineering management success.
Responsibilities:
Create corporate program for maintenance and reliability for rolling stock, plant stock, equipment, etc, for the company
Coordinate programs through a system of “dotted line” reporting relationships (i.e. through indirect reports to people working within operations)
Manage both capital and working budgets for projects on properties
Engineer reliability-based maintenance programs for the operations; manage and implement those programs
Manage reliability and maintenance programs in mining, plant/concentrator, SX/EW and refining operations plus smelting operations
Accountable for large budgets
Benefits:
The salary is well over $110k with a significant bonus, relocation benefit available, and the selection of benefits you would expect with a large company.
Selection Criteria
Appropriate FOUR YEAR engineering degree (i.e. mechanical, EE, process, etc) from an accredited institution
At least 15 years of experience in the mining/minerals industry
Experience in mining, processing and metals
Extensive experience in reliability-based engineering/maintenance
Very good communications and persuasion skills
MUST be legal to work in the U.S. (resident or green-card holder)
