Engineering Service Centre Manager

Our client is a division of a large global engineering services business, employing around 8,000 people worldwide across three divisions. This business unit is a leading provider of equipment maintenance, process support and asset management in the water/waste water, oil and gas, power, mining and industrial market sectors.
This is a key leadership role managing the day to day activities of the locally based engineering service centre. Responsible for all day to day activities of the Service Centre, including P&L performance against a business plan, you will take responsibility for managing a team of skilled and semi skilled labour (both direct employees and contractors), and deliver against OH&S, quality, planning, work flow, and time line demands to meet or exceed the already high standards set by your new employer.

In addition to these duties, you will be expected to develop your people technically and personally, and expand and strengthen an existing culture of quality and safety throughout the workplace. This will be achieved in a manner respectful of both people and the environment. You will have the respect of the senior management, and will be actively involved in developing business plans and setting the future strategic direction of the service centre

In order to meet these challenges, you are expected to have at least 3 years experience in a similar role, and at least 10 years in leadership roles within a hard engineering environment. You will be a leader, a mentor, and a coach, and will have a sound understanding of OH&S legislation, EBA?s and current work place relations practices.

Ideally you will have tertiary Mechanical Engineering qualifications; however experience, maturity and a demonstrated capability are more important. You will be an open and creative thinker, with an ability to participate in the development and achievement of financial plans, contribute to strategic business plans, and ideally have some financial skills.

A background in pumps, valves, turbines and rotary equipment is a distinct advantage; however it is your approach along with your resource and people management skills which are the key to successfully securing this role.
