The Position
Reporting to the General Manager the role incumbent ensures that planned performance levels are met or exceeded providing coordination and leadership to the open cut operations through the development and maintenance of productive relationships that ensure the targeted tonnage is mined safely, efficiently and to quality specifications without compromising the Mine Plan and integrity of assets.
You will be accountable for:-
• Ensuring achievement of agreed production, quality and cost performance by delivering and implementing operating plans.
• Strategic Planning & Direction – developing long term strategies to meet the goals of the business.
• Managing the Occupational, Health and Safety Plan for all areas of responsibility, ensuring compliance with the Company Policy and goals on occupational health and safety and the Mines Safety and Inspection Act.
• Ensuring all policies, goals and activities within the Mining Group comply with the relevant legislation. e.g. Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations and the Environmental Protection Act.
• Achieving (as a minimum) and exceeding budgeted targets (Production/ Productivity/Cost/Quality/Safety) – Developing and implementing a detailed operational plan integrating the mine plan, asset productivity, workload scheduling and operational improvement activities (Business Improvement Plan) to produce an annual budget.
• Establishing, maintaining and developing the company culture, values and management performance standards within the Mining Group.
The Person
To succeed in this role you must be a highly motivated self starter, have tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering and a minimum of 7 years relevant experience in the Mining Industry. You will be able to demonstrate a period of competent leadership in an open cut mining operations and have a quarry managers certificate of competency.
