MINING MANAGER – WILUNA OPERATION Western Australia
ASX listed Apex Minerals NL (ASX Code: AXM) proposes to redevelop the Wiluna Operation during the second half of 2008.
The Wiluna Operation is the centre point of Apex’s regional consolidation strategy in Western Australia’s North Eastern Goldfields due to its extensive resources and existing gold treatment plant, mine and infrastructure. The gold treatment plant is capable of treating 1Mtpa of free milling and refractory ores (using the BIOX process) and will be the central treatment facility for ore proposed to be mined from the Wilson’s and Youanmi projects. It is anticipated that mining at Wiluna over the first 6 months of operation will comprise open pit and underground operations with underground mining continuing thereafter. The operation is proposed to be managed on an owner operator basis with direct employee numbers at Wiluna expected to exceed 250. Apex presents to the market a unique opportunity to secure a key senior role with a high calibre management group to re-develop the Wiluna Operation and to build an operations team with the vision and expertise to achieve that goal. As Mining Manager you will have extensive knowledge of underground mining operations. Assuming a long-term vision, this role requires a pro-active outlook to safety, production and cost management. The mine is proposed to be managed under an owner operator arrangement. Building your team, you will have the skills to ensure that persons have the required training and supervision to effectively contribute to the success of the operation. Apex has secured the delivery of a new mining fleet to meet operational requirements. Expressions of interest are sought from persons with the following:
• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering
• WA First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competence or equivalent
• Extensive underground mining experience
• Experienced in short-term and long-term underground mine planning and design
A competitive remuneration package including performance related remuneration and employee share option scheme with additional benefits will be negotiated with the successful applicant. The role on offer is FIFO on an 8:6 roster.
