The Company

The Company is a major producer of a specialty mineral product with mines and processing plants located in NSW. The Company has approximately 500 full-time employees and mines and produces about 70,000 tons of product per year.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager of Operations, the National operation Manager will be responsible for the safe, cost-efficient, and environmentally sound operation of the mine. The operations Manager will be responsible for establishing and achieving production objectives, company guidelines, legal/environmental requirements and management of all underground mines and day to day operations of management and productivity targets.

Responsibilities

Maintain safe operation through personal example, support of safety programs and proper working conditions, training and development of effective plans and procedures. Schedule underground operations and related activities through direct reports including, Maintain high visibility with underground employees in their work areas. Direct engineering in preparation of operating budget, five year mine plan, and capital project planning. Direct any mining related accident investigations & follow-up actions with assistance from the Safety Department. Coordinate mine operations with maintenance, engineering and processing departments. Meet expectations of the Operating Plan. Prepare monthly mine operations reports with variance explanations. Monitor performance against budgeted targets in terms of production goals, costs, and revenues, ensuring effective cost control. Maintain control of development/operation through regular contact with engineering, production, maintenance, and safety personnel.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have experience in national operations of underground mining or open cut mining, be trade or engineering degree qualified with the technical skill set to manage up to 300 employees. A minimum 5 years experience in underground operations
