With some six million customers, EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG with its headquarters in Karlsruhe is the third largest energy supply company in Germany. With more than 21,000 employees, our core activities focus on the segments electricity, gas as well as energy and environmental services.
Besides nuclear and hydro power stations, EnBW operates 6 coal-fired power plants. Several new coal-fired units are in the construction or planning phase. On this basis, EnBW's total coal imports are expected to increase to more than 10 million tonnes per year. EnBW Trading GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of EnBW, is responsible for the management of market risks including fuel procurement. In order to expand its value chain and to secure the needed coal supply internationally, EnBW Trading has decided to enter into the coal mining business. For the establishment of this business area we are actively seeking a Coal Mining Business Manager.
Your responsibilities as head of a dynamic project team in Karlsruhe/Germany include:
Strategy development for entering into the coal mining business
Analysis of the international coal mining business together with EnBW Trading's coal market analysts
Assessment of legal and regulatory frameworks for coal mining
Identification of attractive coal mining assets internationally
Evaluation of coal mining assets
Acquisition of assets
Negotiation of coal transport contracts
Coordination of the project team including external advisors
Coordination of the required permit procedures
Potential for taking over full management responsibilities for the new coal mining business area or parts of it
Our job specification:
University degree in mining, geology, engineering, business administration or similar
International project experience
Experience in the mining business, preferably in the coal mining business
Management or project management experience
Experience in M & A processes will be beneficial
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Strong business development skills
Flexibility with respect to country focus and changing work focus during the phase of the establishment of the business
Willingness to travel extensively to main coal mining countries
Language skills: fluency in English; additional language skills will be beneficial
