Our European based client is currently on the hunt for an experienced high calibre COO to join them on an exciting and bold streamlining and modernization project. The crucial focus of the COO will be to restructure, Modernize and streamline all of its major operations/ key assets. This is a high visibility role, with a large international diversified mining company.
This position will report directly to their Chief Executive Officer. The COO is a corporate officer responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the corporation. The focus of the COO is on strategic, tactical, and short-term OM, which means he or she is responsible for the design, operation, and improvement of the systems that create and deliver the firm objectives. Your primary concerns are - operations improvement/ modernization, and to create value for its shareholders.
Experience and Technical Skills
**At least 25 years experience in progressively more senior positions in a mining enterprise including operations, project and engineering/ construction management.
**Able to execute policies and rules to follow existing strategies set out by the Board of Directors & CEO
**Experience with working in well-established organizations seeking expansion, growth and profit enhancement.
**Have a proven record of successful development of large and complex international projects and operations
**Experience with mining engineering and construction operations
**Implementing short and long term company wide operations strategy and provide direction for a successful level of business growth
Commercially minded with a strong emphasis on cost control and efficiency
**Experience in modernization projects/ Restructuring operations is highly desirable
**Significant development and operations experience
**Demonstrated track record and expertise in project development/management
**A track record in managing local environmental, social and political issues.
**Experience working in the FSU region would be an asset.
**Ideally candidates should also hold an appropriate mining engineering degree together with an economics or business qualification and have a broad base of commodity experience.
**Experience in new JV and start ups is desirable
**Global Mindset
**Experience in the Former Soviet Union and Russian language skills will be HIGLY regarded.
