Contract Coordinator

Crinum Mine is part of the Gregory Joint Venture and is one of eight mines and a port owned and operated by the BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance. The mine employs approximately 300 people and produces 5.5 million raw tonnes of high quality coking coal per annum. Crinum is located 50km from the township of Emerald which has a population of approximately 14,000. Emerald is a large modern regional centre based on rural, tourism and service industries as well as mining, and boasts an excellent range of services and facilities.

Reporting to the Superintendent Contracts, Assurance and Projects, a vacancy exists for a Contractor Co-Ordinator who will be responsible for contractor co-ordination and assisting other site personnel in the management and review of onsite contractors. In addition, you will provide a project support function to site management.

Key responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

• Develop a positive and productive working relationship with contractors which encourages safe work practices.

• Co-ordinate site Contractor Management Systems.

• Ensure contractor compliance to site procedures and systems.

• Develop and complement system improvement on contractor management.

• Provide a resource for safety system compliance and improvement to site personnel.

• Take a pro-active role in the strengthening of the site safety culture.

• Assist site personnel to comply with Contractor Management Systems.

The successful candidate should have previous experience with the direct management of contractors and contractor management systems. A trade or engineering background is desirable and would be highly regarded. The position requires a high degree of computer skills. You will be required to demonstrate a personal commitment to safety.

Employment Conditions:

This is a staff position and remuneration and conditions will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
