Position Synopsis
We seek a results-oriented individual, with sound business acumen, to lead and coordinate a team of finance professionals to provide quality finance and commercial support to our Port business. Specifically, you will be expected to add value to our business by coordinating the Long Term Plan, Budget, Forecast and financial reporting processes, thereby ensuring the ready availability of accurate, accountable and useful information and advice.
Reporting to the Manager Finance, you will focus your expertise on maintaining and developing key modelling tools, reviewing and refining costing techniques, and current financial processes, to ensure continuous improvement and development is achieved.
Your key accountabilities will include:
* Analysing business outcomes to meet corporate and site management reporting requirements;
* Organising and leading the monthly business review process;
* Leading change in the business resulting in positive contributions to business outcomes;
* Coaching and influencing the Port Management Teams;
* Mentoring and developing the site finance team;
* Leading Finance business improvement projects;
* Promoting awareness and adherence to BHP Billiton policies, standards and guidelines to ensure the financial and commercial integrity of the business;
* Developing models that allow the commercial implications of operating decisions to be quantified; and
* Coordinating internal and external audit requirements.
Skills & Experience
You will have a Degree in Commerce or Accounting, a sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, and significant experience in the application of costing and reporting techniques. Totally familiar with management and financial accounting, and a master of financial process management, you will also be familiar with a diversity of financial accounting systems, including SAP. An advanced level of proficiency in Excel is essential. Experience in system implementation and exposure to the mining sector will be highly regarded.
Exceptionally organised and deadline sensitive, your track record of accomplishment will testify to your effective analytical and problem solving skills. Your functional strengths will be complemented by a proven ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders.

Location
This is a residential role, based in Port Hedland in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Located on the coast, Port Hedland is the largest regional centre in the North West, close to Broome, Karratha and Karijini National Park. The 15,000-strong population enjoys well-established education service, entertainment, sporting, shopping and medical facilities, and a strong sense of community.
Full relocation and subsidised housing will be offered to the successful applicant.
