BHP Billiton Petroleum is a significant oil and gas explorer, and producer, with major producing assets in Australia, the United Kingdom, the Gulf of Mexico (US), Algeria, Pakistan and Trinidad and Tobago.
The Pyrenees Project is BHP Billiton Petroleum’s next venture into expanding its oil producing assets in Western Australia. Pyrenees will consist of a thirteen well subsea development and FPSO and will be located approximately 25 kilometres from Exmouth off the north-west Australian coast. First oil is expected in early 2010. Pyrenees will become part of the Australian Production Unit (APU) within BHP Billiton Petroleum, which currently operates the Stybarrow Venture FPSO, the Griffin Venture FPSO and the Minerva Gas Plant.
Position Synopsis
The Pyrenees Venture will become a highly valued asset of BHP Billiton Petroleum’s operated portfolio and as such the Australian Production Unit seeks a high calibre individual to provide motivated leadership and expertise to this critical role.
The Pyrenees Field Manager’s primary responsibility will be the safety of all personnel in the field guided by the commitments made in the Safety Case. The Pyrenees development is a contracted facility and the Field Manager will be the principal contract owner and the primary point of contact with our business partner. Based in Perth’s CBD, this permanent position will be responsible for providing operational and management expertise to the remaining development and then the commissioning phase of the project in order to achieve safe and reliable uptime once the facility reaches first oil and throughout ongoing operations.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Oil& Gas production professional that is looking for the opportunity to oversee every aspect of an operation, from people management and succession planning to HSE and Emergency response; from legal compliance to onshore support activities; from production optimisation to costs and budgeting.
Skills and Experience
You are an Oil & Gas professional with a relevant Degree in Engineering and experience in an operations environment. You have knowledge and exposure to HSEC management within a production unit, and management experience in production operations including maintenance and processing. Your exposure to commissioning and new facility start up experience will ensure your valued contribution to the project prior to first oil.
In addition to your experience and education, you have well developed interpersonal and problems solving skills. You are action oriented, collaborative and enjoy accountability in you work.
