Worsley Alumina is the joint venture operation of BHP Billiton, Japan Alumina Associates and Sojitz Alumina. As a member of the world’s largest diversified resources company, Worsley manages a bauxite mine and alumina refinery in Western Australia’s South West and offers candidates an enviable choice of lifestyle, based in the state’s picturesque South West.

Worsley Alumina is in the process of implementing an accredited Welding Management System and requires an authorised welding coordinator to join its team.

Reporting to the Central Workshop Superintendent, you will lead a team of three welding inspectors and be responsible for maintaining the operating integrity of the Welding Management System. Your key accountabilities will focus on ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations, welding specifications and code requirements. In addition, you will be responsible for the development of relevant documentation, procedures and training matrices and monitoring adherence, assessment and review.

The successful candidate will preferably possess a Welding Specialists’ Diploma or equivalent (Cert 10 minimum) and significant supervisory experience (2-3 years). Formal qualifications in Frontline Management, Workplace Training and Assessing and Occupational Health and Safety will be highly regarded. Applicants with a qualification in welding engineer or materials engineering are also encouraged to apply. You will have previous experience in a welding inspection role and display effective leadership and organisational skills.
