Peak Downs Mine is one of the largest open cut coal operations in the world, producing 9 million tonnes per annum of hard coking coal. It employs in excess of 700 people who reside in the nearby township of Moranbah, a modern, well-equipped township with all facilities, located 200km west of Mackay and the Whitsunday coast.

Peak Downs has an opportunity in our Mobile Maintenance section for a day shift Supervisor to supervise a team of mechanical tradespersons working on our large fleet of mobile equipment. The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader who has a strong commitment to preventive maintenance processes and the confidence to involve their people in all elements of the job. Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary to be an effective leader of a broadly skilled team and strong commitment to achieving “Zero Harm” are essential to your success in this position

Primary Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

* Overseeing, directing and coordinating preventative maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner
* Supervising maintenance tradespersons
* Optimising the capability and productive capacity of our Caterpillar, Komatsu and Terex fleet of equipment.
* Compliance with all standard procedures, legislation and regulations.
* Actively participate in the planning and materials control processes
* Developing and maintaining a close relationship with production peers
* Actively participating in maintenance improvement initiatives
* Monitoring maintenance budgets and involvement in their preparation
* Participating in cost review and reduction programs
* Provide coaching and mentoring for tradespersons

The successful applicant will possess the following:

* Tertiary qualifications in Maintenance Engineering and/or an appropriate mechanical maintenance trade background.
* Experience in equipment maintenance or a related field, including experience with planned and breakdown repairs and overhauls
* Experience in the maintenance of Caterpillar, Komatsu and Terex equipment would be highly advantageous.
* Demonstrated supervisory and maintenance planning experience
* A demonstrated ability to identify critical issues and react to them appropriately
* Computer literacy and experience in the use of Computerised Maintenance Systems & Safety Management Systems (i.e. SAP and First Priority)

This is a staff position and remuneration and conditions will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is eligible for company subsidised accommodation.
