Position Synopsis
BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s Sustaining Capital (SC) utilises the SC process and our engineering standards to develop and execute a diverse portfolio of projects across our operations.
Reporting to the Manager Mining Projects and leading a team of engineers and project managers, the Superintendent Project Execution will oversee the management of projects at Newman and surrounding ore bodies from definition through to execution phase, focussing on the delivery of projects to the company’s technical, safety and commercial standards.
Key to your success will be your ability to:
* Liaise with operations leaders, project managers and engineers to identify and define future SC and enhancement projects;
* Facilitate adherence to BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s HSEC standards;
* Support the SC team in the development and management of the project portfolio, addressing long term planning and budgeting requirements;
* Deliver timely and accurate project planning and reporting;
* Effectively manage and engage both internal and external stakeholders; and
* Assign projects and resources within the Project Execution team and engage contract staff as required to meet this schedule.
Skills and Experience
As well as a tertiary qualification in engineering, you will have significant experience in construction engineering and project execution in mining or heavy industry. Your success will be derived from your proactive approach to project delivery focussing on project and portfolio management, and leadership of safety practices.
You will demonstrate capability to develop and manage effective relationships across the operations and experience in mentoring and leading a team of engineering professionals.
Location
This is a residential role based in Newman, a town of approximately eight thousand people. It has excellent sporting facilities that cater for a wide range of interests and age groups, a well-appointed shopping centre, and education services to senior level.
